I am fascinated by the skills (and the loss of skills) involved in ‘making’ and the process of production of often ordinary objects; and how changing demands and techniques become obsolete or superseded by the advancement of technology, engineering and society.
This fascination has inspired me to use a wide range of materials, techniques and processes in my practice, and create work which is linked by the recurring themes and concerns that are so important to me. The work is manifested through a variety of means, including drawing, painting, textiles, sculpture, installation and technology, whilst the outcomes are determined by concept and intent. Working in this way gives me the freedom to select the materials and methodologies to become the vehicle for the delivery of the idea.
