Anna Barzotti
“Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.” Frank Zappa
I am a multi-disciplinary creative with a background in performance and writing which I continue to enjoy. My creative life began as a teenager doodling instead of revising for exams. I often wrote poetry in between the things you have to do moments and devised whole screenplays in my head, as real to me as the ones on TV. Despite this, it never occurred to me that my path was a creative one and I moved through life in stormy chaos, seeking drama through misadventures, until, at 28, I went to university and did a creative arts degree. In the years that followed I have been fortunate enough to land a lot of interesting creative projects which make for a very eclectic CV.
During lockdown, I started a journal and although this was intended as a way of recording things in words, I found myself drawing instead which became a daily practice and continues to this day. I joined Instagram as a way of creating an online portfolio and made some short animations, using my drawings as characters and settings. Around this time, just before my 53rd birthday, I was diagnosed with ADHD, and this method of creating art has proved a vital tool in learning what my brain requires to be healthy instead of constantly drained.
I draw using fine line drawing pens, felt tips, pastels, charcoal, and acrylic paint. I am into stencils to put words on images and love to experiment with different mediums including digital art and animation.
