A highly versatile artist, Kevin Dean has illustrated numerous books, designed textiles, ceramics and installations. In 2001 he began designing much of the marble decoration at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, including the large courtyard, which measures the size of two football pitches. Opening in 2010, the Mosque has become one of the world's most popular tourist attractions, with over 5 million visitors a year. 

Apart from his design interests, Kevin enjoys the immediacy of painting directly from life, either in the landscape, cityscape or in jazz clubs and festivals. His preferred medium is watercolour/gouache, along with printmaking,  specialising in large woodcuts and mono printing.

With a long held interest in environmental issues, much of Kevin's imagery relates to botanical subjects and endangered habitats. He has worked in some of the worlds most remote rainforests in Borneo and South America, living with the indigenous tribal people. He has also painted in deserts in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Very committed to education Kevin has worked as a visiting lecturer in universities and colleges across the UK and abroad, including The Royal College of Art and The American University Dubai, he is currently an Associate lecturer at Southampton Solent University. He has given lectures at the V&A and Dulwich Picture Gallery. 

Kevin has exhibited widely, including Trinidad, Dubai, USA and London. His work is in the collection of Rothschilds Bank, Kew Gardens, Sheikh Sultan and the late Princess of Wales' estate.
