Art Space Portsmouth, founded in 1980, is a valued provider of low-cost artist studios with a wider network of off-site artist members, both early career and established creative practitioners. Located in a converted chapel in Brougham Road, Art Space has a distinguished history as a creative hub for visual arts activity in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire area. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive the success of our artist-led organisation. You will be required to attend the Art Space Board of Trustee meetings held in the evening once a quarter, and in addition to your input and responsibilities as a trustee, it is estimated that the role of Treasurer will be equivalent of half a day per month in total.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in financial account management, either retired or working in an accountancy or financial services firm, or with experience managing accounts within a business.
The role includes the following responsibilities:-
Act as Treasurer of our small charity
Work closely with the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the Studio & Programme Manager to ensure the smooth financial running and continued financial health of our charity
Provide advice and guidance to the Chair and trustees regarding the annual setting of budgets and business plans
Review management accounts and advise the Chair and trustees on their implications and any necessary actions
Represent and advise the Chair and trustees on all financial matters including the annual report and accounts
Liaise with any audit partners
Liaise with the charity’s bookkeeper where necessary
This is a voluntary position. An induction and handover will be provided by our retiring Treasurer to give support and understanding of our charity’s accounts.
